Imagination takes centre stage at multistate art exhibition
A new exhibition in Lucknow gathers five artists from Gujarat, Rajasthan and Delhi, showcasing around 30 paintings that weave everyday life, village scenes, nature, urbanisation and ecological concerns into a vivid dialogue.
Amarnath Sharma draws on his carpenter upbringing, treating wood as a metaphor for humanity’s bond with the natural world. Amitesh Verma concentrates on human and equine anatomy, his oil and charcoal studies honed at the Delhi Race Course. Sambit Panda places ecological consciousness at the fore, reflecting on the pressures of urban growth and the persistence of tradition. Satadru Sovan Banduri creates dreamlike landscapes where memory, mythology and extinct species mingle, while Uma Shankar Pathak juxtaposes urban and rural imagery, echoing his own journey from farm to city.
The show invites viewers to reconsider imagination’s role in shaping perception, offering a nuanced look at how personal histories intersect with broader environmental narratives.
